How to Migrate Wishlist Data to Hulk Advanced Wishlist

Modified on Thu, 22 Oct at 3:25 AM

Moving your wishlist data from another app to Hulk Advanced Wishlist is quick and straightforward. You can easily import your data yourself using a formatted CSV file. Once your data is migrated, our team will install and configure the app directly on a duplicate copy of your theme so your live store experiences zero downtime.

Prerequisites Before You Start:

  1. Eligible App Plan: Make sure you have Hulk Advanced Wishlist installed and are subscribed to a supported plan (such as the Essential or Pro plan). Lower-tier plans like Basic or Growth do not support the Import/Export feature.

  2. Existing Customer Accounts: All customer email addresses in your CSV file must already exist as registered customer profiles in your Shopify store. Wishlists cannot be linked to missing or non-existent customer accounts.

Step 1: Prepare Your CSV File

Export your wishlist data from your previous app as a CSV file (XLSX files are not supported). You can download our sample CSV import file to use as a template.

Your CSV file must include these specific column headers:

  • customer_email (Required): The customer's registered email address in your Shopify store.

  • product_handle (Required): The exact Shopify product handle (the text string at the end of the product URL).

  • variant_id (Optional): The specific variant ID number. If no variant ID is provided, the app will automatically associate the product's default variant with the wishlist item.

  • wishlist_name (Optional): The name of the custom wishlist board.

    Important Formatting Note:
If you do not have data for the variant_id or wishlist_name columns, completely delete or remove those columns from your CSV sheet. Do not leave an empty variant_id or wishlist_name column header in your file.

Step 2: Upload Your File

  1. Open Hulk Advanced Wishlist in your Shopify Admin.

  2. Navigate to Wishlist Analytics >  Wishlist items > Import / Export.

  3. Download the Sample Import File to verify your column layout.

  4. Upload your completed CSV file.

  5. You will receive a confirmation email sent to your admin address once the upload and processing are complete.

Step 3: Theme Installation & Configuration

Once your wishlist data has been successfully imported, our support team will handle the full setup and configuration on your store:

  1. Theme Copy Setup: We install and configure the app buttons, icons, and page layouts on a duplicate/theme copy instead of your live theme.

  2. Zero Downtime: Your live store remains completely unaffected while we set up and test the app.

  3. Preview & Launch: You can preview the setup on your theme copy, and once approved, simply publish the theme to make your wishlist feature live for shoppers.

Need Assistance with File Formatting?

If you cannot obtain the file in the exact required format from your previous wishlist app, don't worry! Simply request whatever raw export file your previous app provides and reach out to our support team. Send us the file you have, and our technical team will inspect, clean, and format the data to complete the import for you.
