Before creating an offer in the Functions version of the app, it’s important to decide which type of discount best fits your goal. Each offer type serves a different purpose — whether you want to increase product quantity, promote bundles, reward specific purchases, increase cart value, or offer shipping incentives.
All function offers have a start time (by default, the creation time) and can be scheduled according to your needs.
1. Volume Discount
When to use:
Use a volume discount when you want to encourage customers to buy more of the same product, variant, or products from a collection. This type of offer is ideal for increasing quantity per product.
Examples:
Buy 3 items and get 30% off.
Buy 5 for $50 total ($10 each).
Volume discounts apply when customers add the required quantity to their cart.
2. Bundle Discount
When to use:
Use a bundle discount when you want to offer a discount on a specific combination of products purchased together. This is ideal for cross-selling and promoting complementary items.
How it works:
Assign a unique offer name.
Select the products to bundle.
Optionally select or remove specific variants.
Choose the discount type:
Percentage Off
Price Discount (e.g., $10 off the bundle)
Free Gift
If offering a free gift, select the product that will be automatically added when the bundle conditions are met.
Examples:
Buy a shirt, jeans, and shrug to get 25% off.
Buy 2 lipsticks and get a free eyeliner.
3. Buy X Get Y (BXGY)
When to use:
Use Buy X Get Y when you want to reward customers with a discounted product or free gift after purchasing specific items.
How it works:
Assign a unique offer name.
Select the BXGY type:
Product + Product
Collection + Collection
Collection + Product
Product + Collection
Add X and Y resources.
Set the required quantities for X and Y.
Choose the discount type:
Percentage Off
Price Discount
Free Gift
Important:
Discounts are applied to the Y group only when both X and Y conditions are fully met in the cart.
Examples:
Buy X + Y and get 50% off Y.
Buy X and get Y as a free gift.
4. Order Discount
When to use:
Use an order discount to encourage customers to increase their cart total. This is ideal for boosting average order value.
Examples:
Spend $100 and get $10 off.
Spend $200 and get 15% off.
Note:
Order discounts are applied to the original cart total once the required amount is reached.
5. Shipping Discount
When to use:
Use a shipping discount when you want to incentivize customers with reduced or free shipping after reaching a certain cart quantity or total amount.
Examples:
Spend $100 and get free shipping.
Buy 5 items and receive discounted shipping.
Choosing the Right Offer Type
Volume discounts increase product quantity per order.
Bundle discounts promote grouped product purchases.
Buy X Get Y rewards specific purchase combinations.
Order discounts increase overall cart value.
Shipping discounts encourage higher spend with delivery incentives.
