Before creating an offer in the Legacy App, it’s important to decide which type of discount best fits your goal. There are two main types of offers: Volume Discounts and Order Discounts. Each serves a different purpose depending on whether you want to increase the quantity purchased or the overall order value.
1. Volume Discount
When to use:
Use a volume discount when you want to encourage customers to buy more of the same product, variant, or items from a collection. This type of offer is ideal for boosting product quantity sales or promoting bundles.
Examples:
Buy 3 of the same product and get 30% off.
Buy 5 items from a collection for $50 total ($10 each).
2. Order Discount
When to use:
Use an order discount to encourage higher cart totals. This type of offer is ideal for increasing average order value.
Examples:
Spend $100, get $10 off.
Spend $200, get free shipping.
Choosing the right offer type helps you target your business goals more effectively. Volume discounts are best for increasing quantity per order, while order discounts are best for increasing overall spend. Always preview the offer in the storefront to ensure it appears correctly.
