How to Enable Wishlist Product Rearranging and Custom Ordering

Modified on Wed, 5 Aug at 8:04 PM

Giving customers the ability to personalize their wishlist layout makes it easier for them to organize their favorite products, prioritize upcoming purchases, and curate their ideal collections. The Product Rearranging feature allows store visitors to reorder their saved items effortlessly using drag-and-drop controls or quick-move options.

How to Enable Product Rearranging (Merchants)

By default, this feature is disabled. To allow shoppers to reorder items in their wishlists, you must enable it in your app dashboard:

  1. Open your Shopify Admin and navigate to Apps > Hulk Advanced Wishlist.

  2. Go to Settings > General settings.

  3. Locate the setting Enable rearranging products on wishlist page and toggle/check the box to enable it.

  4. Click Save Changes.

How Product Rearranging Works for Customers

Once enabled, both registered account holders and guest shoppers can organize items within their wishlist page, popup, or wishlist drawer:

  • Drag-and-Drop: Shoppers can click-and-drag items on desktop or touch-and-drag on mobile devices to rearrange products into their preferred order.

  • Quick-Move Menu (⋯): Clicking the three-dots menu on any wishlisted item opens options to instantly select Move to Top, Move to Bottom, or manually enter a specific numerical position.

  • Custom Order Sort Option: A new Custom order view will appear inside the storefront wishlist sort dropdown menu, allowing customers to return to their personalized layout at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

I enabled the setting, but I don't see the drag handles on my storefront. How do I fix this? Make sure your storefront wishlist sort dropdown is set to Custom order. Drag-and-drop controls and positioning options only appear when the list is actively sorted by custom order.

Does product rearranging work on mobile devices? Yes. Touch-and-drag reordering is fully supported on mobile screens, alongside the quick-move menu (⋯) for precise placement.

Does this feature work for guest shoppers? Yes. Item positions for guest wishlists are saved automatically via browser cookies, mirroring the experience for logged-in accounts.

Does drag-and-drop work within the Shopify New Customer Accounts (V2) extension? Customers using the New Customer Accounts page extension can view their saved custom order. However, active drag-and-drop controls are currently unavailable in the V2 Customer Account extension due to platform UI restrictions.
